Where in the world are you located?
B.rilla here dawg, 1/2 of Da 56’$, representing for DBB entertainment, Watchdog records, and Triiibe worldwide located in a Boston, MA suburb named Wayland.
What was your favorite past time when you were young?
From a very young age I fell in love with the spotlight after performing in a talent show in the 1st grade so I immediately joined chorus and theater. So it’s easy to say at a young age my favorite pastimes where singing and acting.
What was the very first CD you remember acquiring as a kid?
When I was in the fourth grade I got my hands on the The Eminem show and had the whole album memorized by the end of the same week.
What was the first concert or performance you ever attended?
I did a lot of concerts and performances in elementary school so kindergarten I probably technically Alsace my first performance but if we are talking famous people when I was 15 the first concert I attended was an anybody killa (Psycopathic Records) concert at the palladium in Worcester.
Was there a defining moment for you in your childhood that you feel impacted the way you operate in the world today?
I think falling in love with music and the spotlight at such a young age really impacted how I live my life now I remember being in kindergarten and seeing a Chorus concert that the high schoolers put on for us. They stopped singing and got a standing ovation right then I knew I wanted to be getting standing ovations of my own.
At what age did you begin to take music seriously?
I didn’t start writing my own lyrics and trying to rap until I was 16 years old but I was garbage back then haha I’d say by the time I was 17 though I would take weeks to write one song instead of a few hours and really started to care about every word and try to make the best music I could. Then by 20 I was doing shows opening for a list rappers such as Cassidy, Lloyd Banks, Twista, Joe Budden and even The Game.
If you had the chance to play one of your pieces to the ENTIRE world, what song would you choose? (Link to the song)
If everyone could hear one song from me by my choice it would be a remix of Rick Ross Thugs cry I did with my best friend / the other half of Da 56’$ Young Kichael.
Where did you find the inspiration for this particular track and what is the meaning behind the song?
So the song is a basically about “the one girl who got away” or so we thought at the time because we were only 17 writing the song
Kichael came up to me one day with only the first verse written to this song and he spit it for me I fell in love immediately with t and knew the whole world would be able to relate.
What do you think about the state of the music industry today and how would you like to see it change?
Allot of people say the music industry is loosing its touch now a days especially the hip hop community people complain about allot of “trash rap “ and “mumble rap “ getting overly popular and making it harder for us conscience emcees to make a names for ourselves a bit I would change a thing because the more garbage there is out there the better it will make me sound haha, you can’t enjoy the sun with out some rain from time to time.
What current projects are buzzing and what future projects do we have to look forward to from you?
Right now I am working on my solo Debut EP entitled B".rilla’s Dream" and always working with Kichael on some new shit for Da 56’s
