Hello Serene Rivers! Can you please give us some details about your past?

I was born and raised in Cincinnati next to the Ohio River. I was always tapped into a power with wisdom beyond my physical years on this planet and bodies of water have always been special to me even before I understood who I really am and where I really come from.

How did you get to where you are today?

I spent the first 20 years of my life trying to swim upstream and ignoring my gifts. I allowed others to devalue them and instead took the “safe” route. I ditched art school for an academic school in middle school, I went to nursing school at Howard University because I knew I’d always have worked and I’ve worked as a pediatric/ neonatal intensive care nurse for almost 14 years now. Now I’m using my experiences to focus on my first love which has always been music. I’m submitting to the highest universal flow of my life now!

What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

The last “safe” choice I made was marrying a MIT graduate from a royal African family. It was something that looked good on paper and to others on the outside looking in but it was a very, very painful situation for me. I birthed 3 children into a loveless marriage where I was not “allowed” to do my music or openly be myself as a interdimensional spiritual being. My healing journey since leaving has been a challenging one but ultimately I am thankful for the situation because now I will never hide or deny who I am again and I can scream from the mountain top “ I am a Goddess!”. I am Mami Wata embodied and “water get no enemy”!

What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I make Goddess music for the spiritual revolution and personal evolution. I can sing, rap, compose music, write songs and produce them as well! I’ve played the role of the hood chick and the bougie chick. I’ve played the victim and now I know I’m eternally the victor! I’ve been through many extremes in this human condition so I can connect to many people and I don’t judge people by their bad choices because I’ve made so many myself.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Define success for yourself. Do what you love, serve others, love others, never quit, you are already successful!

Speaking of success, what does success mean to you?

Success means being in the stream of love and joy as much as possible and sharing love with as many people as possible.

What’s next for you?

I’ll be releasing an average of 2 songs a month for the next year or so. One will be inspirational/ spiritual the other will be a “shadow expression”. My goal is to show the beauty of the goddess energy in all its phases.
